"I arrived (Professional Trainer Development), as a holiday-maker, days away from the office and no real plans to learn. I found myself having fun and it really didn't feel like I was being trained; each session was invigorating and incredibly effective. Even after 2 days training I would spend most of the 2.5 hour drive home talking it over with a colleague (and my wife still couldn't shut me up on the subject once I was home).
What I didn't realise is just how much I had taken in, both in terms of underpinning knowledge and technique. I have subsequently found myself putting it all into practice almost without realising I am doing it. As a result feedback has become much more positive. But it was only when a friend began preparing for the same course that I realised just how much more capable and confident I felt as a trainer; without knowing it I had become unconsciously competent.

"I learnt so much (Professional Trainer Development) about how to design (and deliver) training packs, and can say with absolute certainty that without that knowledge, there is no way that I would written and reviewed half the training packs that I have since. Knowing how write session plans, considering what delegates need to know, the different learning styles and how language can be used to influence people has really helped. Without this, I would have been doing things in the dark. Since the course, I got the NVQ and went on to design (and deliver) packs for Legal Advisers and Magistrates. This experience helped me a great deal when I went to the Judicial Studies Board (JSB) where I was also involved in the design of national training packs for Magistrates. Since then, I have been involved with the JSB in the design of material on other areas as and when required, and I am continuously reviewing existing training material in the West Midlands.
In short, since the course, I haven't looked back!"

on-SIDE Safety Plus is probably one of the best tools for getting people involved......when the techniques were applied on site, the results were almost instant. The workforce is now beginning to feel they have some control and some ownership of Health and Safety issues. The benefit of this, is that Health and Safety has become far more acceptable and part of the norm.
